David Chapman RCA

Since finding an early Bronze Age axe when he was 12 years old David has been fascinated by early bronze smelting and casting techniques. In the 1990's he helped excavate and survey the largest known prehistoric copper mines in Europe, on the Great Orme. This led to David experimenting and mastering Bronze Age smelting and casting techniques using reconstructed furnaces, skin bellows and moulds.

The experience of this experimental work led to him identifying the earliest known metal working site in Great Britain, dated c. 1580 BC.
